Parliament Votes in Favour 2011...now the Peaceniks Protest

The Parliament of Canada (The peoples representatives) have had an open and democratic free vote on the Afghanistan situation.

The Conservative motion passed by a vote of 198 to 77. It was the second confidence vote the government survived Thursday, and carried the possibility of triggering an election if it hadn't passed.

Defence Minister Peter MacKay saluted the vote, saying it will bolster the men and women serving in Afghanistan.

It shows confidence in everything they're doing, as well as aid working shoulder to shoulder with our Forces, MacKay told reporters outside the House following the motion's passing.

Revised following consultations with the Liberal party, the motion calls for the mission to be renewed past 2009, but with a focus on reconstruction and training of Afghan troops.

It also includes a firm pullout date, calling for Canadian troops to leave Afghanistan by December 2011.

Now the Peaceniks hit the protest trail and naturally Jack Layton is in their midst. Our freely elected representatives have made their decision. So now is the time to show SUPPORT for our Troops not bring back dreadful Memories of the Vietnam Peaceniks in the USA.

We pray that the Piper only has to skirl happy tunes and marches, no Laments. Our troops are doing a difficult job and we must Rally behind them Till they return to Canada safe and sound.

Please don't forget the annual PEI Bingo in aid of the military Families Services Centre. HMCS Queen Charlotte 7 pm 29 March 2008.

I say put the peaceniks over there and tell them to shoot only when shot at. I bet they would come back supporting the troops rather then slamming them. We need to stand behind our troops as they are in a difficult place doing a difficult job and they need all the support we can give them.
