Having just read an e mail on the RCASC Forum I would like to expand our search for this veteran or his family.
Anyone knowing of this soldier the name or family please send me a message thankyou
This is an excerpt of an e-mail message I recently received. ----------- I am writing you on behalf of a gentleman here in Holland who found a bracelet in his garden. He thought that it had belonged to a Canadian soldier who had lost it in April 1945 during the liberation of Apeldoorn, or maybe later during the stay of Canadian soldiers in Apeldoorn and surroundings until December 1945.
It is inscribed with: A.A. Gunn, serial nr B 113993, and has the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps badge engraved.
This gentleman would like to return the bracelet to Mr. A.A. Gunn; if he will be deceased, to his next-of-kin.
Could you give me some advice how to proceed to find Mr. A.A. Gunn or his family? I checked the database of the CWGC and since this name is unknown, A.A. Gunn was not killed in action.
Jelle Reitsma Brigadier-general Royal Netherlands Army (ret.) ------------ If anyone has any information please contact the Webmaster. Your humble servant.
Please remember your troops in all you do. Personal Support is not Costly.
Well done the Old Boys network of the RCASC a retired member Gary Campbell has discovered the following: Gary Campbell found a record [RCL-Last Post magazine] of A.A. Gunn's membership with the Legion in Sault St Marie. He passed away in 1993. I've been in touch with them and they may be able to help. Let's hope that a surviving family member will be located and reunited with the bracelet.
