Western Command Rotation begins, Manley report to be submitted.

Soon our valiant soldiers of the R22R The Van Doos will be rotating home to rest up and to meet again with loved ones. This Regiment and it's support units have been hard hit in Afghanistan with wounded and unfortunately fatalities. The members of this proud Canadian Regiment have once again proved themselves both on the battlefield as well as in Humanitarian assistance. The full rotation will take place over the next month or so with troops from Western Command. We thank the Vandoos for their remarkable operation. We wish the new rotation Godspeed and pray that they all return safely to their loved ones.

Once again into the Breech The Patricias, another battery of The RCHA, and their Logistical and Support troops.

CFB SHILO, Man. Manitoba soldiers heading to Afghanistan are part of the best-prepared task force that Canada has ever produced, a senior military official said Saturday.

Hundreds of Manitoba-based soldiers, many accompanied by family, stood shoulder-to-shoulder as Brig.-Gen. Mark Skidmore made the comments at a ceremonial farewell at the Shilo base.

About 800 soldiers from Manitoba will be part of the 2,500-person task force heading to Aghanistan. Units involved include the Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry and the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery.

More than 1,000 of the 2,500-person task force will come from Edmonton.

The Manley report is to be turned in to the Prime Minister today, so hopefully within this week we will see the Government decision on Afghanistan.
