Military Blog Site - with Robby McRobb Blog

What a week, What is happening!!

In such a terrible week 2 soldiers laid to rest in Canada, one further soldier returning home in a casket, seven more wounded. We must ask ourselves WHY did Secretary gates of the USA deride the actions of Canadians and their fellow soldiers from NATO ? He states that they cannot conduct warfare against guerilla warfare. They say that history repeats it'self well not too far back at the height of the Vietnam War. The US Gov't admitted that draftees from Detroit, NYC, LA and anywhere in between. Could not fight the jungle Guerilla warfare of the North Vietnamese.

Gates said that NATO is falling far short of their objectives. That was Wednesday!! On Thursday he reloads and says that he did not mean Canada or the UK !! ! Apology NO a spin on his previous speech YES all these comments as Canadian families lay loved ones to rest.

Today former Prime Minister Tony Blair says that Canada is exceptional and doing an exemplary job in Afghanistan. He is also quoted as saying that he is a fan of Canada. At least public comments like this are welcome news in Kandahar.

Our soldiers , sailors, and airmen and women are involved heavily in a terrible war against terrorism. The taliban primarily and now one of bin ladens sons wants a cross Africa horse race for peace??? When for the first time since it's inception The Dakar Rally has been cancelled due to threats from his fathers organisation. What pray tell is this all about??

In my opinion we should be supporting our troops 100%. Our political leaders must respect this and work on an end to this conflict. Either by diplomacy or obliteration of the enemy.

Please show your support this Friday Wear something RED!

PEI show your support at the Rockets game 25 Jan on behalf of the military, Let's see a sea of RED in the stands ! !

Robby, that is a good question as to why Secretary of Defence would say such a thing in one breath then in the next say they're sending 3200 Marines to Afghanistan. I'm not a rocket scientist but to me he's saying there are no other troops like the Marines. They'll do the job. Hog wash. Like you, I say don't forget Viet Nam. At a time when things are not going the best for our troops and NATO as a whole, he says that. It's a disgrace. He couldn't fix things the next day either. That statement hurt alot of people, especially those serving, have served and will serve in Afghanistan. It really burns my behind when someone in the U.S. tells me or anyone else that we don't have the smarts to do the job. Pray for our troops. Take care and God Bless. Rex
