Hundreds of Mourners. Des centaines d'Assistants aux obsèques

REST IN PEACE COMRADES... Reste dans les Camarades de Paix Cpl Beauchamp and Pte Levesque

Two more young Children will be without their Father at Christmas and an as yet a child yet to be born will be Welcomed to the world without a father.

Alexandre, 7, and Josian, 6, lost their father, Cpl. Nicolas Beauchamp, when he was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan on Nov. 17.

About 800 mourners turned out for his funeral in his hometown of St.-Hyacinthe, Que., marching behind a military procession that wove its way through the town about 50 kilometres east of Montreal.

The bombing that killed Beauchamp, 28, also claimed the life of Pte. Michel Lvesque, 25, and killed an Afghan interpreter. Lvesque and Beauchamp served together in the Royal 22nd Regiment, also known as the Van Doos, which is based at CFB Valcartier.A private funeral was held for Lvesque on Saturday in his hometown of Rivire-Rouge, in Quebec's Laurentians. Just before he died, Lvesque had become engaged to his 18-year-old girlfriend, who is pregnant.

Cpl Beauchamp was a Medic with 5 Field Ambulance.

I wish there was a way that our serving soldiers, sailors and airmen could be safer in their dangerous jobs. But unfortunately that is just a wish. I pray that the the NATO operation is successful and that the taliban are eradicated from this earth. That Canada remains honourable in their efforts to gain freedom for the impoverished and starving masses of Afghanis.

CIDA has asked that the role of Canadian Military be one of Delivery of aid and food. As far as I understand they are doing this as well as fighting of the aggressors of the taliban. A friend of mine in Ottawa told me that he refuses to Capitilise taliban and I agree, a small gesture.

So as Christmas Eve is two weeks today . I send greetings and best wishes to all of our dedicated troops wherever they may be serving. May the Lord keep them safe. May Allah look after his Afghani muslims and send them Peace to all men.

I have never had such a lesson in words and imagery since We as the Canadians Military took on this combat role. I know that those out side the military Robbie will see far different things in the poster/advertisment you have up about the strenght behind you and the picture of Cpl Beauchamp's widow. Those that would have have Canada leave Afghanistan might see loss, violence, and waste. Those that support the troops, especially those in the military, might see the grief for a great man doing great things and how important it is. Like you Robbie I pray for peace. I pray for those who fight for others and those who cannot fight for themselves.
