Please wear a poppy for the fallen.
Todays headliner on cbc.ca is about Canadian Medics who were sent to Spin Bolduc to assist and evacuate injured from a local market. Perhaps the cause of this action can explain the death earlier this week of an Afghan national on his motorcycle.
Medics and troops from the base were sent to help evacuate the injured in Spin Boldak, where a man driving a motorcycle packed with explosives set off a bomb near a crowded market, killing 10 people. This is another of the split second decisions that our soldiers face daily. We are safe here at home and the sight of a motorcycle or an ATV does not cause concern for people.
This suicide bombing occurred on one of the Holiest days of the Islamic Calendar The Feast of El Fitir. How are our troops and indeed the ordinary Afghanis to handle these murderous attacks ? ? ? ? ? With the help of NATO and other countries who are trying to irradicate the Taliban, that is the only solution.
I am sure that some of the rescued are giving thanks to Allah and to the Proud dedicated Canadian Medics who helped them to survive.
I know that I feel proud both as a Canadian and a Global citizen. Well done again to our Canadian Troops.
