When I wrote of the death of M/Cpl Christian Duschene the name of the other soldier killed had not been released. I now add the name of MWO Mario Mercier of the Royal 22cd Regiment. Words cannot ease the pain of these men's families and friends. Our deepest sympathies go out to them at this saddest of times.
As well as our soldiers being killed in action, other people are also dying with no mention of names (that I can Find) The latest man being an Afghan national employed as an interpreter. Without the brave men our military would be in deep Limbo. I know for a fact that a good interpreter that you can put full trust and faith in is very important. I had a fantastic Interpreter in Azerbaijan. Mr Ayden Mamedov who unfortunately has passed away.
However the legacy of an intelligent, brave person interpreting for you in far flung places is essential. The ones currently in Afghanistan and Iraq are in danger of being killed and their families being killed by the mindless taliban.
They have no insurance nor pension plans for themselves nor their families and still they work alongside our troops.
They too are the forgotten of this conflict.
In closing we welcome home safe and sound all the men and woman from the PEI Reserves.
