Plus de Morts...More Deaths KIA

Once again I write of the sad loss of young lives in Afghanistan, M/Cpl Christian Duschene of 5 Field Ambulance and another Soldier whose name is being withheld at the request of his family. An Afghan Interpeter was the third casualty along with wounded which include a Radio-Canada journalist.

Our prayers and thoughts are with these men and their families .

Nos prires et penses sont avec leurs familles..

A few words from our new MND Peter MacKay......

In a statement released early Thursday, Defence Minister Peter MacKay expressed his condolences to Duchesne's family, as well as to the relatives of the other Canadian soldier who died.

My thoughts and prayers are with them during this time of great sorrow. I also wish a speedy recovery to the soldier injured in this incident, the statement said.

Let us never forget these brave soldiers, whose self-sacrifice served to make life better for others.

MacKay said his sympathies also went out to the Radio-Canada journalists.

The Van Doos, who have been posted in Afghanistan for less than a month, are already coping with the loss of Pte. Simon Longtin, the first Van Doos soldier to die in Afghanistan.

I close this sad Blog and ask each and everyone to take a moment and reflect on being a Canadian and for the young men and women in danger zones around the Globe. Who are serving Canada with Pride and Professionalism.

I know this is hard to do but we must focus on the accomplishments not our body count. Unlike there we do appreciate and celebrate life so yes death of the military members over in Afghanistan is huge here. The have died for reason purpose and honour. If we make the deaths of Canadian more important than the deaths of the people we will leave behind by not finishng the mission what does that really say about us as a society? We are not expendable but these people are? Not a world I want to live in.
