Good Deeds on the Home Front

With all the talk lately of our men and women in far away places, perhaps it is time to remind Canadians that their Military are also doing things at home.

One of the sad things is assisting in ground searches for missing children, or adults. The 9 year old girl missing in Quebec Cedrika Provencher is one. Her father M.Martin Provencher has asked for search assistance fom the military, hopefully they will join the search and ease the strain on her family. Soldiers sailors and airmen join in many rescues and searches each year.

The members of HMCS Charlottetown ( regular navy ), assisted by members of the local naval reserve unit are running across the Island tip to tip raising funds for the Childrens wish foundation. They are accompanied by a Sea King and crew from Shearwater, which draws attention everywhere it lands. Many many people accompanied them on different legs of their run.

So you see fellow Canadians your military is always working with and for Canadians in many various roles. I cannot recall how many ships have pulled into ports worldwide and given assistance in one way or another.

So as we ask you to mention them in your prayers whether in Church, Mosque, Synagogue or Chapel any where any time please remember them and their families who remain at home.

We send all our best wishes to the first wounded of the National Support Element ( Formerly Service Batallion) in Afghanistan. May you heal quickly and regain your health. Canada is proud of you .

Aux soldats blesss. Nous envoyons nos flicitations pour une rcupration rapide. Merci du Canada pour votre travail brave en Afghanistan.

Just a quick clarification on the runners. They were all crew members from the ship HMCS CHARLOTTETOWN. 23 members of the ship, including their Commanding Officer came to the island once again to run from tip to tip. HMCS QUEEN CHARLOTTE only had a small supporting role. They will return next year and will be looking towards all islanders to once again dig deep in support of the Childrens Wish Foundation.
