Instant Media Coverage !!

The news today tells of an offensive that NATO has begun against the Taliban. This information is difficult to understand. During WW1, WW2, Korea, and yes even up to the first Gulf War the media coverage of conflicts has increased in rapidity of reporting and now with E Mail, IM, and of course mobile phones with and without cameras. The coverage and information is instant. I feel that electronics definitely help against the enemy, drones and other unmanned recce flights.

I cannot understand how or why the press is allowed to report on future offensives etc? Does this not warn the enemy? We have all heard the stories of Sadam Hussein watching CNN during the first Gulf War and knowing where and when the advances were coming. I do realise that the Canadian Media are very knowledgable in warfare and they seem to choose their coverage with care. Pride in Canada and the Canadian military helps the reporters from CBC

I think that our brave soldiers need all the attention that they deserve
They are diong a job that is exteemly dangerous and quite often pay with their lives
However if it is required that the press does not report what is going on or what they are doing in order to protect our troops well so be it
