Congratulations Flt/Lt Chris Hasler DFC / Operation Hoover Begins

Once again RED FRIDAY is upon us. Please show your support!!

First Congratulations to Flt/Lt C.Hasler born in Alberta ,raised in Nova Scotia on becoming the First Canadian since the Korean War to be awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross by Her majesty Queen Elizabeth. Awarded for his bravery and initiative in piloting a double bladed Chinook to rescue troops under fire.

The Hoover offensive has begun and we pray for a huge victory for our troops. The men and women of Canada and especially the Maritime contingent will be attacking Taliban positions in a seek and destroy mission. This will greatly assist the Afghanis who wish to live in peace and prosperity. The reconstruction teams will move in to assist upon completion of the mission.

Go Bless and watch over the NATO Troops.

I can and do support our troops and have been wearing red every Friday since last August, and never get dressed without praying for God's protection of our dear young men and women in the forces who are serving in Afghanistan. They are working for an honorable cause of bringing peace and freedom for the Afghani people, but we must ask ourselves if the means they are being forced to use and the price they are paying is actually effective. I see already one Canadian soldier has died in this present offensive. We will likely never know how many Afghani people will die directly or indirectly because of the offensive, and if it will effect any positive change in their lives. If the same amount of resources being poured into this military activity were poured into aid and support and peaceful negotiation and pressure with whatever Afghani government exists or existed would there not be more effective peace and freedom?
No Canadian would ever want to diminish honor for our troops, but we do have problems accepting the decisions that were made that got us into this difficult situation from which there seems no honorable withdrawal. Canadian government and military leadership must take the time to look objectively with what is causing the terrorism activity and what, if any, role we play in it. Then we must look at what forms of peaceful negotiations will effectively resolve the problems. The principles of aggressive military activity has only made life harder for the people in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has now succeeded in making life more difficult and painful for the people who feel compelled to provide support for something they never approved of in the first place. Someone is profitting from this war at the expense of families and ordinary citizens in the name of honor. Flt/Lt Hasler was being honorable in his determination to rescue his buddies. They are all honorable in helping the Afghani people. If they had been the decision makers would they have chosen this course of action? Would they not have found a more peaceful, less destructive, means of pursuing improved living conditions for the Afghani people?
Can we Canadians convince our government leaders to stop politicing amongst themselves and seriously consider the role Canada will play for the benefit of our own future and the future of the world? Can anyone out there name a politician presently in government, nationally or provincially, who puts the good of the country before his / her own personal or partisan popularity? Maybe we need a contest?
God bless our troops and God bless their families and God bless all of us caught in the reality of supporting / not supporting this military activity.
