I was remiss in my welcome home to the Captain and Crew of HMCS Regina.
They returned to their homeport in Esquimalt to a rather subdued welcome. They were met by families, loved ones, and friends. The fanfare of a ship's arrival has certainly been downplayed in the local media.
I admit that due to travel etc it took me a few days to discover that they had returned safely. A late but Hearty BRAVO ZULU to the fine men and women of this crew, They missed Christmas and New Years at home this past season due to our global commitments.
meanwhile as canada goes on with their operations in Mali, Afghanistan and operational sites around the Globe. The fighting in and around Damascus has intensified if that is possible. What a tragedy for these Syrian people whose Refugees now number over a million.
