This story from the BBC today and the further related stories, show the danger that our Canadian Trainers face every day. Our NATO Allies have suffered the following:
Recent Afghan 'turncoat' attacks
- 9 January 2012: US soldier killed by Afghan in army uniform
- 29 December 2011: Two French troops killed by Afghan soldier
- 29 October: Three Australian troops killed by man in Afghan army uniform
- 4 August: Nato soldier killed by Afghan in police uniform
- 16 July: Nato member killed by Afghan army soldier
These attacks by our so called Afghan Allies are acts of desperation. The majority of these men who are the killers of their trainers. Have indeed been recruited by the taliban, with threats against their families and death to anyone deemed to be helping NATO ,ISAF or any other foreign group in Afghanistan, whether trainers or NGO’s any aid givers are targets in this desolate part of the world.

As our prayers and thoughts go out to the families and brother soldiers of France, we must also give a prayer for our 1000 plus trainers in Kabul and environs.
Meanwhile a few hours earlier a NATO helicopter went down with 6 souls on board.

And last but by no means least a suicide bomber kills 7, at the entry to Kandahar International airport. The dead included 2 children. WHY ? ? ? no one knows ! ! ! what drives these scum to take the lives of their own and of their children.
As the old cowboy song says “Just another day in Paradise” It certainly is not for our Canadian and NATO allies in Afghanistan a decade after NATO entered to remove the taliban from this country and to instil a free democratic government. Sadly we have not learned any lesson from past History of this arid country.
On this Friday please wear something Red as a symbol of your support for our Troops and their families. Whether serving on the High Seas or on the ground anywhere in the world.
