The Canadian Flag was lowered for the last time in Kandahar. However that does not mean that Canada has departed our flag will fly in training areas. Our Canadian Army trainers are still deployed teaching their military skills and discipline with the Afghan Army and Police. Everything from small weapons training, to lessons on easing local conflicts peacefully.

More than 2,600 Canadian soldiers, sailors and Air Force personnel are deployed overseas on operational missions.
Deployed Task ForcesA deployed task force constitutes the entire Canadian contingent of a multinational mission operating in a specific area of responsibility.
Each task force is selected, organized and trained for its mission by the environmental commands of the CF — the Navy, the Army, and the Air Force — who are therefore referred to as “force generators”. As a “force employer”, CEFCOM takes over the task force when it is ready for operations, and directs it throughout its tour of duty until its return to Canada.
