Another bit of information Canada is hosting a very important symposium with regard to IED detection and destruction. Well done Canadian Engineers,
Friday, November 25, 2011
Ottawa, Ontario — The Canadian Forces (CF) counter-improvised explosive device Task Force (C-IED TF) will host a symposium in the city of Québec from December 5–9.
The greater Canadian C-IED community, as well as their international partners, will be among the attendees. The conference is restricted to personnel currently working to mitigate C-IED threats.
The C-IED TF is actively developing techniques and equipment to give troops an edge on the battlefield of tomorrow.
“[The international counter-improvised explosive device symposium] presents the opportunity for Canada and its allies to grow and better understand the IED threat together. It increases our ability to deal with it, side by side, in any of our future conflicts,” says Lieutenant-General Peter Devlin, Chief of the Land Staff.
The IED Threat: Now and in the Future
The theme of the symposium will be The IED Threat: Now and in the Future. It will address key IED challenges within an international and domestic context in an effort to improve tactical and strategic linkages.
One of the key messages of the symposium is that the Canadian Forces remain committed to providing an effective, agile and full-spectrum counter-IED capability. Although this capability mitigates IED threats, the risk is unlikely to disappear completely, given the reality of the security climate in countries like Afghanistan.
“The end of the combat mission only marks the end of offensive actions in the southern province of Kandahar,” says C-IED Task Force commander, Colonel Hercule Gosselin. “CF troops are still working and travelling on roads that may have IEDs.”

Todays Sub Title is about Liberal Critic Sean Casey of PEI. I would like to ask him one question "How many Red Rallies" has he attended since 2006 to my recollection the entire 5 years I spent on the Red Island we never saw hime once. Now he is supposedly fighting for the DVA Jobs. This entire HQ in Charlottetown should be reduced to reflect the amount of Veterans on the Island. Move the HQ to Winnipeg, Calgary Edmonton even Quebec City. These areas have far larger populations of both Veterans and serving soldiers ( our Future Veterans).Sean casey flaps hois lips in the wind and is the wrong person to be defending Veterans and their issues.
Please remember our troops in Afghanistan, our Naval Crew scouring the Med for pirates and illegal arms. HMCS Vancouver is hard at er. Bless all of those troops and their families who are serving anywhere on our Globe.

First if DVA HQ moved to areas of larger Veterans populations, perhaps staffer would then care more for the Veteran than their 8 to 4 Job. With all Government perks. Secondly As a concerned Veteran and Canadian the Red Rallies are important and CHarlene and her staff organise thenm bi annually yet still face the extremely small crowds who show support. Also the DVA Staffers fail to attend as they are held at lunch hours and heavens forbid the miss their Lunch. As for open minded I do feel that I am very open minded, I support Red Friday I support the Rallies. Over 5 years and over 1000 Blogs have been my way of showing a lot of Canadians the work of our Military and indeed the Strength of Military Families. So as a Canadian NJ Armstrong feel free to state your opinion but please check your facts and ask Sean CAsey how many Red Rallies he has indeed attended. Merry Christmas a Happy new Year and Pray for our Troops their families and our Veterans. Robby
