Military Tradition within a Family

As mentioned many times over the past few years I am a Big Believer in the Military Family

Yesterday I had coffee with Gerry Webb an apprentice soldier from my years 1960-1962.

He served in the Army, Airforce and the NAvy over his 30 years service, Winding up as a commissione officer in Marpac. He then took a civilian position as a Marpac Civilian.

The mention of families is what I wish to say his son is enroute to Italy as a Major who will be involved with our Libya mission.

One of his daughters is the chief clerk on Canada's west coast Submarine. This is what the military family is all about continuity over the generations.

As for Libya fierce fighting is still taking place in Sirte and once again the Gadaffi loyalists are attacking the new Libyan Government in Tripoli itself. Surely this is not over, Gadaffi Loyalists are certainly Loyal to the man himself and he has eluded capture well over 8 months.

I was sad to hear our PM state that Iran is definetly the biggest danger to the free world. Our Foreign Office has also told Canadians living in Damascus to leave and that no Canadian should visit Syria during their troubles.

All of these headlines make me wonder when Canada will once again be patrolling the dangerous roads of the middle east.

Now another Good News DOG story for your enjoyment from the Stars and Stripes newspaper:

As Remembrance day is not far away please remember our serving soldiers, Veterans and their families.
