Training Commander in Afghanistan

Captain H. Edmundson RCN in Kabul

Historically it was highly unlikely that a Naval Officer would be in command of a Land operation. Not so now with our military taking on many combined operations.  Credits for photo as follows.

In full Army-style battle rattle (except for the RCN “executive curl” on his rank badge), Capt(N) Haydn Edmundson disembarks from a U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter flying for the International Security Assistance Force.

Meanwhile Naval wise HMCS Vancouver celebrated her ""Birthday in the Mediterranean ""    Eighteen years ago she was commissioned  in the Port of Vancouver BC. Recently she celebrated her birthday off Misrata Libya. Full DND Story :

Meanwhile in good old Gagetown NB our troops are training and preparing for their next mission in Afghanistan. The stary deployment in Febuary 2012.

Canadians should be very proud of our military, sadly the opposition in parliament are two faced. When former PM Martin and his gang  pressured for the Harper Minority to send a Challenger to Mexico to  bring back a healthy female prisoner to Canada. Brenda Martin of Belleville. There were no shouts or taunts about costs of operating the Challenger to bring back a convicted criminal. Yet last week the Oppossition and CTV complained of Medevacing a seriously Injured Captain of the Canadian Military. Captain Terry Hunter was severely injured while on leave. Yet the oppostion and CTV are crying foul.

WHY would they plead for a criminal but ignore a serving soldier. Who by the way just recently served a tour of Duty in the arid climes of The Sudan.

This medevac was a necessary part of military operations and I feel the opposition should be far more concerned about problems of the economy and the high costs of living in Canada.

Get well soon Captain Hunter and ignore the rookies in the Opposition.

Please support our Troops and their Families.
