The World Trade Center Cross, made of intersecting steel beams found in the rubble of buildings destroyed in the September 11 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, waits to be blessed by Father Brian Jordan, a Franciscan Priest, before it is transported then lifted by a crane and lowered into an opening in the World Trade Center site below ground level where it will become part of the permanent installation exhibit in the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, in New York, July 23, 2011.   TENTH Anniversary of 9/11/2001

These are some terrible dates we remember, such as where we were the day Kennedy was assassinated, John Lennon was murdered and so on. Each of these  earth shattering days, pale in comparison to the atrocity of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre. 3000 died that day a real mix Christian, Jewish, Hindu, atheist, Buddhist and Muslim. The first responders on the site the police and the fire services lost men and women in the devastating crash  as the Towers fell.

Sadness will always permeate the thoughts of survivors and of family members who were elsewhere when this cowardly attack took place. Thinking that husbands , wives, lovers and children were coming home that day from another normal days work  in the world trade centre.

Although this tragedy did not spark a world war, it started a war of a different kind, never seen before.

Although Osama Bin Laden and his Al Quaida terrorist organization claimed responsibility, and announced Jihad against the Infidel. Not one country from the west attacked Saudia Arabia home of Bin Ladens group. The cowardly Bin Laden was said to be in Afghanistan or Pakistan living like a roach in the caves of this mountainous region of the world.

It also created backlash for peaceful hard working Muslims, no Fly Lists became the norm.

As a Canadian who lived and worked in many Muslim Countries, Saudia, Azerbaijan, Algeria, the Emirates, to mention a few. I never had any form of prejudice aimed at me from any Muslim, in fact I count many Muslims as good friends.

The truth is that there are fanatics in all religions, who wage wars, wars of words and wars of Killings and extermination in the name of God, Allah or Mohammed. As a Scots born Presbyterian I have always been ashamed of a man who professed to be a Presbyterian Minister in Ireland, yet  he led the fight against his fellow Irish who were Catholic. The Reverend Ian Paisley, may not have been as powerful as Al Quaida but he has the blood of many fellow Irish Christians on his hands.

Our PM Stephen Harper said in a recent interview that the most dangerous problem we face at this moment in time is the Fanatical Islamists. I agree with him 100%. However there are millions of peace loving Muslims who simply wish to co exist with Christians, and other religious groups. They seek better homes, a better standard of life and education for their children. Just as many non Muslims of all faiths have done since time began.

So I do ask this of you on this Terrible Anniversary, Respect one another, we can all co-habit this earth.

On the  Canadian Military side this is a very informative article about Canada`s Military rebirth over  the past ten years and in particular an interview with General Vance.See PDF attachment.

It looks like Col Ghadaffi has certainly evaded the might of NATO bombings. BUT (there is always a BUT)

At what Cost, how many Libyans have died from both Rebel attacks and  Loyal Ghadaffi Troops, also including those who have been killed on both sides by NATO airstrikes, no matter how carefully they guide their bombs onto targets.

Thankfully we have lost no Canadians  in this mission.

The 157 military personnel that paid the Price in Afghanistan will always be remembered as brave Canadians who gave their lives for Queen and Country in defence of Terrorism, which all started in New York with 9-11-2001. They too shall be remembered on this tragic  anniversary.

May the God, Allah or whomever you believe in keep all the Victims of this atrocity safe from any further harm. May their families friends and loved ones find peace within. The final number of people who have died, directly and indirectly to this will never be known.

I ask everyone to take a Special moment on Friday to remember all of these who died on this Tragic day, say a prayer, or simply think of the impact this has had on our world. As they read the names out perhaps for the last time ever.
