"Garage" Sale Kandahar

CAirn in Dubai

Air Force Museum Cairn Facts

Wanna buy an APC, a cargo Container the items are large and varied here in Kandahar. A special unit of Logistics personnel are itemising and deciding what is shipped home, what is Sold and what is destroyed.

For afficinados of Garage Sales and Flea Markets this must be a tempting sale. Rifles, coffee pots, barbecues and armoured vehicles alike are among the extensive inventory of 75,000 items being scrutinized by a team of about 350 Canadian soldiers at the Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan. The objects, amassed by the Canadian troops over the past decade, will be sold, destroyed or returned home.

The mission Closure unit has a busy schedule to insure everything is completed by end December.

The Mission Closure Unit, racing to meet a Dec. 31 deadline, is operating under the motto: "Bring Away With Effort And Honour." Soldiers are arriving daily to help catalogue, clean, dismantle and pack the items into about 1,800 scrubbed shipping containers. The effort has been likened to moving a small village across an ocean.

On a Good note the Cairn that was erected in Camp Mirage Dubai to honour our fallen on the Afghan Mission has been returned to Canada and will soon be on display at the museum in CFB Trenton. A very fitting location as all our Flag Draped Caskets were repatriated to Trenton.

Ken Diamond has been hard at er performing many searches to find entertainment, tours, acommodations, and most of all discounts for the Veterans and their Spouses to enjoy while in Surrey BC, this September.

Canex has donated some gift cards in appreciation of all the 40s RCASC soldiers bought in Europe and from their predessor Maple Leaf Services.

Please remember our Troops and Veterans, they served and protected Canada's Rights and Freedoms

I doubt if they will be selling APCs or any weapons. It;s mostly just general stores that aren't directly related to military operations that are going to be sold.
