A soldier died Today and a Good Samaritan in BC

Crossing this great Land by Road

Sadly another RCASC Apprentice soldier has moved on peacefully to the advance party.

A brief e mail from hid friend and fellow apprentice Bob Davignon;

It is great sadness that I report the passing of my great friend Fernand Beaulieu this day 2 june 2011. Fern was a member of 11 platoon ATC entry 1956. Following a great army career Fern was a member of the Quebec Provincial Police and following this was a Federal Prison Guard. He was MY friend. At the last three Apprentice reunions he was my companion and drove my car with me to them. I spoke to Fern last night as he and his wife Lise were to spend the weekend with us. When they came to Quebec, they always stayed with us. This weekend was to be special as they looked forward to celebrating with us and branch 12 of the Royal Canadian legion, the *Landing of Normandy*. I will miss my friend

Farewell my brother Apprentice

Bob D'Avignon

On a happier note as I trek westwards an overheated radiator caused me to pull over in Kamloops.I called the repair shop from the  car park which i had pulled into. I received instructions as to get there from where I was.....complicated was not the operative word disaterous more like. However a lady named "Cecilia" offered to lead me the 15 min drive into downtown Kamloops, Thank God she did I would never have found the place.

I thanked her and offered her gas money. She declined to accept, saying only that this was her good deed for the day. I asked her name and she said Cecilia. my own personal visit by St Cecilia. Thankyou again for all your guidance.

Please say a prayer for the safe return of our combat troops from Afghanistan.

I was pleased to see that our impeccable MND peter MacKay is contemplating opening some foreign bases for our troops.. I think this is a wonderful idea, for both our troops and our country.

More from the Road Chilliwack on Monday.
