Canada's PM Supports Red Fridays

Support our Troops

To the Citizens of PEI, I have been on this Island 5 years with this Blog. The Red Friday Rally turnouts have been very POOR whether indoors or outdoors. None of the Local Liberal MLAs have been in attendance at any of the previous  Red Rallies.  Minister Gail Shea gave a Rousing speech at one of our Rallies  last year.

The first annual red Rally will be in June ( Full details TBA)

Perhaps as our troops are returning from Combat over the summer months Islanders may have enough Patriotism to show the Troops we care, Honour and respect them.

The regular attending Islanders know whom they are and I thank them for their Support rain or shine they always turn out.

May 6, 2011

Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement to mark the fifth anniversary of the Red Friday Campaign in Canada:

“Since the first Red Friday Rally drew thousands of supporters clad in red to Parliament Hill on May 6, 2006, the colour has for many Canadians become a symbol of support and gratitude for the men and women in uniform who selflessly and tirelessly serve our country both at home and abroad. The movement was inspired and spearheaded in Canada by Lisa Miller and Karen Boire.

“By wearing red on Fridays, we honour and thank the members of the Canadian Forces and their families for their courage and for the many sacrifices they make to uphold the values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

“On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to our troops as they continue to fight for peace and stability in areas such as Afghanistan, Haiti, Sudan and other less fortunate regions around the world.

“I encourage all Canadians to wear red and participate in the many rallies being held in communities across the country as a gesture of respect and solidarity.”

So as our troops fight insurgents, pirates, and flooding at home please show your Support for them and their families members of Canada's Invisible Army
