Soldier Missing in Edmonton

Master Cpl. Richard Curnow,

On this “Red Friday” sadness and a mystery from the PPCLI in Edmonton. A young soldier with two tours of Afghanistan has gone missing.

Police, military and search and rescue crews combed an area of Edmonton's river valley Thursday in hopes of finding a soldier who went missing during a run earlier in the day.

Master Cpl. Richard Curnow, 25, was part of a group of nine soldiers who met at Hawrelak Park around 7 a.m. and started a 10-kilometre training run through the river valley 15 minutes later.

The group noticed Curnow was missing when they finished their run around 8:30 a.m., military spokesman Lt.-Col. William Fletcher said.

After waiting for a few minutes, they went back along the path to look for him. They called Curnow's cellphone and checked his Mitsubishi Outlander which was still parked in Hawrelak Park in hopes of finding him.

Foul play is not suspected at the moment but the search will continue throughout the day.

My prayers go out to the safe locating of this brave Soldier.

In Quebec the Van Doos are assisting the people affected by the Flood. They moved in yesterday with heavy equipment. The Captain of the flood unit said to a CTV reporter that this type of operation is a great

Morale Builder. Assisting our own with no fear of Ied’s or snipers. Proud Canucks helping out other Canadians.

On the last note this morning I saw a wonderful Byte on the National. I do not watch the Jimmy Kimmel Show but apparently he is a Scrabble Champion and Master. Two young boys (Champions) from Canada were playing on the show lately. During the play the boys  questioned a count and they were correct. This gave Kimmel Extra points. When asked why they were so honest. I absolutely Loved the answer

“ Because we are Canadian” what a wonderful persona Canadians have throughout the world. Well done Boys.

Please remember to care for our troops and yours prayers to locate M/Cpl Curnow.
