Violent Easter Weekend in Afghanistan

Sarposa Prison

As our troops in far flung places tried to have a snippet of Easter, Church services, food and perhaps a skype with home.

Afghanistan erupted as ever 3 NATO troops killed, a local leader killed by a gunman.

The entire Middle East is like a throbbing volcano at the moment riots and protests in Yemen, Bahrain, Egypt and Syria. I pray that whoever wins Canada's election next Monday has either a large Majority or if not the strength to not send our troops willy nilly into these frays.

External affairs has advised Canadians living in Syria to leave immediately. Travel restrictions are in place for most of the Middle East.

NATO certainly was unaware that Ghadaffi would last this long. His foreign fighters are well paid and have no concern for the lives of Women and Children. THis is going to carry on for a long time.

We should now (after the election) decide to pull our air assets from Libya and the no fly zone. In the numbers killed by all sides the no fly zone has not saved the lives it was meant to.

On the Afghan note the drawdown should be well in place logistically now. With less than 90 days before our first troops head home.

Monday Morning BREAKING NEWS  ! ! !

More than 450 escape Kandahar prison.

This prison has been touted as well run and Canadian Prison officials, heralded new beginnings for Prisoner welfare.

I also hope that whomever wins this election, gives a high priority to the welfare of our wounded Veterans Both physically and mentally.

So folks please get out and vote only voters can change the Government.
