The Writ has dropped

Barney Danson Medals a True Canadian Hero

WR3 Charlottetown

With regard to the election that has now been called. I must reiterate my disgust with the opposition voting the Government down.

THe times in Canada are at a dangerous ebb, What with 2500 plus troops in Afghanistan and 500 plus in the NATO operation in Libya. Plus our pirate patrols. I know that the majority of Candians are worried about the economy and that is natural to be concerned about prices, wages etc. However their are a large number of Canadian families whos biggest concern is a family member in the line of fire.

During the next 30 odd days of electioneering our Minister of Defence Peter MacKay has extremely limited powers. Although technically he is still in charge of the portfolio until the election. He is allowed only to do the basics withe miltary.

I must admit that since Barney Danson I did not think we ever had a competent Minister of Defence. Well Peter MacKay has surprised me and he has definetely grown into the job. For a man with no military experience he has astounded me personally, and I believe he is the most appreciated Minister of Defence since Barney Danson a decorated Canadian War Hero.(see photo of his medals)

So our troops carry on with their dangerous duties as Canadian Politicians are on the campaign trail.

As previously mentioned at least we are lucky that a call to an election simply lasts 36 days.

In my own opinion I hope to see a Tory Blue Blanket over our country for the next five years with a staggering majority.

Please show support for our troops and their families. As the CTV news reported on Stress within the families of Troops stationed in Afghanistan this link is very interestingL
