The news from Afghanistan, continues to be very bad. Yesterday two civilian Canadians were wounded in a suicide attack on a supermarket in Kabul. 8 other civilians unfortunately died in this incident. Kabul was supposed to be the safest place to live and work in Afghanistan.
This is where the bulk of our Canadian Training staff will be working. They will require protection.
Early this morning Saturday the Deputy Governor of Kandahar was killed. Our beleagured troops have fought valiantly for every inch of terrain that they have liberated from the taliban terrorists. Will the death and destruction ever cease in Afghanistan I fear not, at least not in my lifetime.
Canadians will be tasked with the training of Afghan National police and Army. The biggest diffficulty they face. (in my mind) is the lack of patriotism in this country. taliban employed afghans wear the uniform of police or army with immunity. Then they go out and attack NATO, other Afghans or anyone that their twisted minds tells them too.
I am sad that Egypt has erupted so violently. I feel that there is not a retired soldier of Canada that did not enjoy a tour or two of Duty in Egypt. I spent just under a year living in a tent at Camp Chams. I experienced the pyramids and the Palmyra club. I pray that a peacefull resolution comes soon for one of the most important countries in the Middle East. Egypt is an early hub of our civilization.
Please show support for our Troops and their Families.
