Monday Morning Heroes

3 Australian VC holders

Good Morning Blogophiles;

First story this morning and accompanying Photos are of Cpl Ben Roberts Smith VC.

This young Australian is the second winner of a VC during the Afghanistan War. He is a young father of 5 month old twin girls as well as being a proud Aussie.  Australia as we know is not only part of the Commonwealth,  they are part of the allied coalition fighting Terrorism in Afghanistan. The following links will give you the entire story of his brave actions.

In the photo he is accompanied by Cpl Mark  Donaldson who won the VC in 2009 and  Sgt Major Keith Payne    who won the VC during the Vietnam war. Brave and Proud Australians. I salute you.

The next link is a great link to see photos and videos of Canadians in action. Both in Combat and in Reconstruction. I personally feel that CTV  gives the best coverage of our troops and their families. Thank You CTV.

CTV also had a story on a Canadian Pilot attached to a UK Fighter Squadron in Afghanistan. This is yet another story of the Comradeship of the Allies for there are Intermingled pilots of all Nations  in the air operation in Afghanistan. Thank you to all our Air Personnel.

Last but by no means least today. I wish to share a video sent to me by Ed Oursien in the Miramachi. The winner of the US Medal of Honour is the first living recipient of this medal. Well done and Thank you to men like Sgt Sal Guinta United States Army. I salute you

Please take the time to see the 2/503d's best.

I'd not seen this production before.  It pretty much brings together SGT Guinta's experience together.  He's a great example of our fighting men and the Army could not have selected a better example for the Medal of Honor.

 Watch this video.  This is an articulate volunteer who exemplifies the finest qualities of the American combat soldier.

.   Thank God we still have young men like this.  Gentlemen, a  genuine Allied Hero...

Humbling.

So this Frosty Monday Morning on PEI I send my thanks my prayers and my Salute to the men and women fighting terrorism around our world and indeed on our home shores.

Please Support your Troops and their Families.

    Thankyou once again for sharing such wonderful stories with us, Robby....while watching the video of the Medal of Honour winner, it struck me to the core...this is what our men and women do...Canadian, American, British, Australian - it doesnt matter....this is their destiny...this is our hope for the future...this is why we do what we do as a nation that cares...MOH; VC; whatever the medal or honour...a tangible, visible way of defining a mere moment in careers filled with countless moments...Bravo Zulu to all our serving CF members...Bravo Zulu to their families who stand with them during that service.

    Robby, you must expand your horizons. Find a National Paper that will host your important Blog. My Son is currently with JTF2 and I worry constantly. BUT I do know his training and support is nothing less than perfect. I am proud of him and of all our Canadian Troops. "Ready aye Ready"
