What a sad week for Canada, Canadians and especially for the families. The huge turnout at Sgt.R Russell's funeral service in Toronto. 13000 police officers and civilians paid their Respects on a Cold Toronto day.
Then in CFB Valcartier, the news announced the death of a young Signaller. Although his death is deemed an accident. It is equally as sad for his loved ones. This young soldier returned safely from a tour of hazardous duty in Kandahar. Only to succumb to an accident. Condolences to his family, Loved Ones and his Brother and Sister Signallers.
Cpl. Jean-Michel Deziel was installing a telecommunications antenna Monday morning when he fell, according to a military statement. He was immediately taken to Laval Hospital in Quebec City, where he was pronounced dead.

I APPLAUD the National Assembly of Quebec for finally standing up to a very weak point in personal security. A group of four Sikhs scheduled to make a presentation at Quebec's national assembly Tuesday morning were denied entry to the legislature because they refused to remove their kirpans.Read more: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2011/01/18/sikhs-denied-entry-nat-ass-quebec.html#ixzz1BTxu4lLm I always remember many many years ago when the wearing of a kirpan was questioned in Ontario Schools. They were shot down and to this day young sikhs continue to wear the Kirpan. A lady wrote in to the Toronto Telegram (now that was a while ago) that she felt the way to resolve this issue was simple. She said as Christians we wear a crucifix as a symbol of our Chritianity. Why could the young sikhs not sear a lapel pin symbol, size of a Kirpan. This to me always made sense. A large lethal blade should not be worn by anyone in Canada. In fact with Robbie Burns Day approaching, you may not be aware but the Kilt can only be worn now with a plastic Skean Dhu, not a real steel bladed one. It seems that once again Canadian do gooders support, foreign Ideologies. This video is not military in Nature, however I am sure that readers will enjoy it and although made in the USA it certainly covers Canadian Concerns. http://www.numbersusa.org/ Nil Sine Labore Robby Please Remember our Troops and their families.
