Monday Monday Can't trust that day.

Van Doos pay Respects

This title is from the old mamas and poppas hit Monday Monday. Can we trust this particular Monday. Afghanistan ! ! ! ! !

I am not normally a fence sitter I usually stand for one side or the other.

The proposed extension of our troops in a training role, till 2014  I am really undecided. A British General has stated what many of people think. Which is that the taliban will never be defeated, other NATO countries including the USA are stating that they will be drawing down their troops soon?

Mrs Mellish mother of WO Frank Mellish who was killed in Afghanistan states it differently. Why are we wasting young Canadian lives to open schools inly to have them destroyed a short time later. Hamid Karzai ( I do not trust him at all) now wants the NATO ISAF troops to cease night operations. Is this to allow  his taliban supporters to creep in under darkness.

I do feel very sorry for our Prime Minister and our Minister of Defence, they will be in Lisbon on Friday and then we will know for sure if we are remmaining in Afghanistan or pulling out.

Even veterans that I see on line everyday are at odds with this problem, pull out totally or leave a thosand trainers? Big problem, big decisions for our Prime Minister. Whatever he decides he will be held responsible.

Sadly he only has the Libs on his side the taliban jack supporters want a public vote at what cost?  They want the vote because they know deep in their hearts they will never be the party in power in Ottawa so to create problems makes them happy. NDPer Dewar the defence critic is acting like a spoiled child.. Mr Harper lied to us. What PM Harper has said is that this decision does not need a vote. That is Parliamentary Rules  Mr Dewar should abide by them and if he has any informative input then by all means share it with Canada and the PM.

As for Gilles and his Bloc Quebecois, They show a lack of respect for the soldiers of Valcartier who have fought and died for Canada over many wars including this Afghanistan Mission.

Here is the updated block of Canadians Serving in Afghanistan as of 05 Nov 2010.

So folks whatever the decision let's show support for our troops and their families www.invisiblearmycanada.ca

Remember that Christmas parcels for Deployed personnel should be dropped of as soon as possible.
