Friday Show your Support

Red Friday

CPVA Statement

A cool rainy Friday, but you can still show your Support for our troops by wearing Red.

Afghanistan has had a terrible week with 11 NATO soldiers killed over 48 hours,

Sad for NATO Troops but especially sad for the members of the Invisible Army. The Spouses, Mothers, Fathers, Children and so on. Less than a month now to another Remembrance Day. This will be the first Remembrance Day where no Canadian Veteran of World War one survives. John Babcock passed away earlier this year to rejoin his platoon mates. May he Rest in Peace.

PEI has yet another success story, sent to me from Alberta,

Dear Robby

Rex has sent you an interesting article from The Maple Leaf

Exchange sailor named best seaman rating

Leading Seaman Alicia Barlow is a naval reservist currently on exchange with the Royal Naval Reserve (RNR) at HMS President in London, England. Recently, she received the Bell Memorial Cup at President’s ceremonial divisions at the Tower of London after being judged the best seaman rating within the unit during the previous 12 months  http://www.forces.gc.ca/site/commun/ml-fe/article-e.asp?id=6499

One thing that never surprises me is the Humour of the Military wherever they may be serving. This U tube link is primarily British, and is very funny.

Two headlines piqued both my interest and my Cynicism.

The taliban are ready to negotiate a peace deal? Hmmmm why would we even listen to these cowardly insurgents. They are typical gangsters and speak from both sides of their mouth. They will say anything , simply to allow them selves a period for regrouping and to plot further attacks against the people of Afghanistan. School closures, honour Killings, no women’s rights. The list will go on and on.

Second is the article on perhaps using Pakistan bases for the pullout. Pakistan is known as the largest training area for Al Quaida. Should we as a nation be giving them opportune targets? Even as members of the British Commonwealth, I personally think not. I do understand the transport by road, however one must evaluate and that is for the Head Shed in Ottawa. As for air base support my vote would be for Azerbaijan a Caucuses country. Yet a friend to NATO.

Sadly it seems that Omar Khadr may be making a plea bargain. Hopefully he will be sent to a US prison and not returned to Canada.

Once again I ask you one and all to show support for our troops and their families.

I too fear for our troops welfare if Pakistan is chosen as the redeployment point. This is a commonwealth country full of people who have no concern for Christians nor indeed Canadians. In world economics with the flood disaster. They cannot even cajole funding from their elitist rich to assist the flood victims. They also can spend a small fortune on new Jet Fighters but ignore their own poorer people.

I too do not trust peace negotation with the taliban. However Gen Petreaus guaranteed the taliban leaders safe passage to Kabul. Who knows? After Afghanistan it is my understanding our troops are once again headed to the Congo. He!! 50 years ago Canad was there on peacekeeping and nothing has changed. Rapes and pillaging occur everyday, like the taliban the congolese insurgents have no moral values whatsoever. The killing and terrorising of women and children occur in both countries. Keep up the good work with this Blog. Hopefully more readers will return and leave comments.
