Musings this October Monday

Our Country Canada

Military Wives

I am happy to report that nothing major has happened in Afghanistan in the past week. At least with regard to our guys and gals. As the big issue in PEI this week was the  election of a new party leader for the progressive conservatives. I loudly applaud and congratulate Olive Crane. A caring, tireless and passionate worker for the people. Who knows perhaps she will share her views with us at the Fall Red Rally. Date, time and venue to be announced later.

As for our troops, they are still hard at it in dusty hot Afghanistan, I sincerely hope to join them in one capacity or another in the next few weeks.

The PEI regiment had a Dinner dance on Saturday and a former member of their cadet group/ militia was in attendance and spoke to the gathering. Senator Mike Duffy a proud hard working Islander.

As we are approaching Nov 11th our National Day of Remembrance. I would like to remind everyone that although we have cenotaphs, plaques, cairns and memorials through out Canada. There is no stronger monument to the men and women of our military who have paid the ultimate price, than the memory in the hearts of the Invisible Army. The Mothers, Fathers, Spouses and children of these fine Canadians who are now at rest. Perhaps it is not to early to add the poem of a Military Wife as the PDF segment, today, as we prepare to pick up our Poppies, dust of our Medals and parade to a local spot of remembrance next month.

Although these proud Canadians may not be everyones cup of tea they sing this tribute from the Heart. Sent to me by a retired Loady and Apprentice. Wayne Flaherty enjoy.

Till next time.

Please show support for our troops, wear red, hang a yellow ribbon or simply remember them in your prayers and in your heart.
