13 Sept Monday Morning Musings

A Hug Goodbye

Time seems to be flying. At least in my daily life. It seems like I was only writing about the summer fighting season of our Troops and allies in Afghanistan. Now Gen Lessard commander of Canada’s Troops announces that:

Coalition forces in Afghanistan will go on the offensive this fall, says Lt.-Gen. Marc Lessard, the commander of Canadian troops overseas.

His comments to reporters in Kandahar on Saturday echoed those made by British Maj.-Gen. Nick Carter, commander of coalition troops in southern Afghanistan, who said up to 32,000 Afghan and coalition soldiers will try to clear 500 to 800 insurgents from around Kandahar city before December.

Lessard described the coalition push as "massive activities." The attacks will be followed by development projects and efforts to strengthen the local governments.

I do realise that I have been a civilian for a long time. BUT what I do not understand is the  media announcement to the taliban that an aggressive Offensive will take place this fall.

I through the media and in conversation with soldiers returning from Afghanistan, can only surmise that the enemy will hide again in plain sight.

Yes they will once again mix with Farmers and Villagers  while going about their despicable placing of ied’s. What type of message does this send home to the members of the Invisible Army. The stress and worry over a loved one serving away is bad enough. Yet to announce imminent offensives, creates a further level of stress for the Wives. Mothers, Fathers, Children, Siblings and loved ones of their extended families.

Sadly the weirdo Pastor of the Florida Church does not realise the damage he has done in the poorly educated masses of Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, Malaysia and Indonesia to mention a few. Attacks and protests against Christians were carried out after his announcement that he would not burn a Koran. Simply because they were incited by Imans that are not moderates in any sense of the word. Certainly the talian insurgency received more volunteers as suicide bombers. I hope and pray the this pastor understands the consequences of his foolish Grandstanding actions.

So as we go into a new week please give a thought and a prayer for our troops.
