Military Blog Site - with Robby McRobb Blog

A Flag Draped Casket of Cpl Pinksen will arrive at CFB Trenton

Cpl Pinksen RIP a hero of Canada

When I started this Blog almost 4 years ago. I used to pride myself on beating the Guardian to stories of our soldiers especially in Afghanistan. I  also take great pride and reverently place stories of our soldiers who have paid the ultimate price. I try to accompany each Blog with the soldiers Cap Badge as a point of honour to both the soldier and to his Regiment/Corps or Unit.

Sadly this new format still has a great deal of snags. I wrote the Blog on repatriation yesterday 3 times. When the site finally told me it was accepted, it somehow disappeared into Cyber Space.

The webmaster at the Guardian has assisted me in many ways and for that I am grateful. The plus side for the newspaper is that stories now appear on line far faster than they did in the old format.

I plod on and will keep trying to get the new format under control , meanwhile please bear with me.

A Flag draped casket will once again be, off loaded at CFB Trenton. Tentatively at 1400 today Thursday 02 Sept.

Cpl Pinksens family and loved ones will, be at the ceremony on the tarmac. To begin their sad journey along our Highway of Heroes. I pray that Cpl Pinksens family will be able to draw strength from the Canadians lining the route to pay their respects to another young Canadian Soldier who has paid the ultimate price.

May his family and loved ones, also receive strength from his brothers in arms who though not in attendance will be carrying out their duties in Afghanistan. Though sad in heart they are still professionals and will carry out the duties that their comrade had been a part of.

( I tried to place a photo of Cpl Pinksen here) no luck.

Cpl Pinksen a Proud soldier of The Royal Newfoundland Regiment. May he Rest in Peace. His Duty done..Rest now Young Soldier.

Messages from the military spokesperson, the Prime Minister and the Minister of National Defence Follow:

{popin} "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of our fallen comrade during this very difficult time," said the military in a news release Monday afternoon. "We will not forget Corporal Pinksen's sacrifice as we continue to bring security and hope to the people of Kandahar province."

Prime Minister Stephen Harper,

also issued a statement responding to the death. "It is with utmost sorrow that I extend the condolences of all Canadians to the family and friends of Corporal Brian Pinksen, a brave soldier who died due to injuries sustained in Afghanistan," the statement said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time of loss. Corporal Pinksen served Canada valiantly and deserves the gratitude and respect of his nation."

Defence Minister Peter McKay issued a lengthy statement,

"We deeply mourn the loss of this dedicated Canadian Forces member who died as a result of injuries suffered while in Afghanistan. Corporal (Cpl) Brian Pinksen was seriously wounded recently by an explosive device while on patrol in the Panjwa’i District, southwest of Kandahar City, and has since been under medical care at the Landstuhl Military Hospital in Germany. Sadly, his wounds were too great and he succumbed to them. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.

Cpl Pinksen bravely served with his comrades to help build a stable environment to support a better and brighter future for Afghans. This tragic passing illustrates some of the many risks that the men and women of the Canadian Forces face every day in carrying out their duties.

Canada’s participation in this United Nations-mandated, NATO-led mission is a true reflection of the Canadian values of helping, those in need and defending the interests of those who can’t yet defend themselves.

Please show your Support for our Troops and their families. Condolences and comments are welcome at; http://www.invisiblearmycanada.ca
