taliban and Ramadan

Our Brave Soldiers

The cowardly backward Taliban have done it again. They stoned to death a young couple accused of adultery. This is a sadistic, weak minded interpretation of the Q’uoran.  In the midst of RAMADAN the muslim’s most holy month of the year. A time when fasting, peace and tranquility are embodied by the faithful. A time to help your neighbour, a time to reflect on life, Allah and  the teachings of Mohammed.

They say that they are following the teachings, but they are absolutely misguided. I have lived and worked in a number of Muslim Countries and found no anger nor animosity aimed at me as an infidel. The taliban Mullahs who are supposed to be the scholars, of Islam are nothing but demented, hateful, spiteful men who are blinded to progress and education.

They should take a religious lesson from countries that are far more progressive than their own. Egypt, Jordan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kuwait to mention a  few. Progress comes with change and change comes from within.

During this time of Ramadan to commit  the atrocities  of assassinations, beheadings, and indeed stoning is beyond comprehension, to sane people whether religious or not these acts are a disgrace to all humanity.

I say a prayer that ourCanadian and allied forces in Afghanistan can defeat these terrorists once and for all. In Sha Allah as the muslims say or by the grace of God as Christians say. Same meaning  different words.

On a happier note our troops received a commendation last week for their  brave heroic actions during an attack on Kandahar airbase. Bravo Zulu to the Canucks. Fine soldiers one and all.

To Accompany Photo at Top:

Three Canadian soldiers were awarded commendations on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 for their role in stopping an Aug. 3 attack on the main NATO military base in Kandahar. Sgt. Marc-Andre Rousseau, left to right, and Cpl. Joseph Henry, both members of the Combat Engineers in Kandahar from Valcartier, Que., as well as Sapper Kirk Farrell, of Petawawa, Ont., were outside the secure perimeter of the base when a group of insurgents attacked.
