What a disgrace, Island landlord disallows yellow Ribbon Tribute

Afhgan Womens Police Training

I received this e mail  from a reader, during the transition from old web site to this new one. Date is irrelevant and I have deleted the name of the sender, in order to protect them from a landlord with no thought for our troops.

Hi Rob,

It’s  " " " " " " "  here, I have a sad,sad story for you. You can post it or do whatever you want with it.

Last Monday my wife & I went over to visit Charlene. She gave us a beautiful, large yellow ribbon

that we could put it up. When we got home we put it up out on our deck. I didn’t think our landlord

would be too happy, he won’t even let me fly a flag. He claims to be a patriot, he also claims he

has as much support & concern for our troops as anyone else. Here’s where he showed his true

colors, he sent me an e-mail & told me he noticed a large yellow decoration on our patio. He didn’t

even know what it was, he demanded we take it down. I was not surprised but still furious. My

wife said she would handle it as I can be quite rude when I’m angry.

She told him that it wasn’t a decoration, explained to him what it was, we put it up for Simon & the

rest of the men & women in uniform. The sad part is, he claims to be a pretty intelligent guy, & a

patriot, let’s not forget that. He thought it was some kind of decoration, he had no idea

whatsoever of what it really was & what it stood for. Most grade school kids know what it is. My

concern is that there are too many other Canadians like him out there. It just makes me sick to

think that an adult with some kind of intelligence in our country doesn’t know what a yellow

ribbon is or what it stands for. Shame on him, oh ya, he made us take it down. Sharon is going to

put it up in one of our windows, inside, but so folks can still see it.

Thanks for listening to my ranting,

The Simonmentioned is a young Island soldier on his first tour of Duty in Afghanistan. SHAME on this landlord.

Our Female RCMP and female police officers from municipal services across Canada are now operatiing a training school for Female Agfghan Police. Good Show Ladies you make me proud to be Canadian.

With reference to the upcoming fate of captain Semrau. I for one disagree absolutely with this statement from Gen Thompson:

Brig.-Gen. Denis Thompson says that Semrau's actions were "such a blow" to the credibility of the Canadian Forces that there is "no other option" but to boot him from the military.

Return a Good Soldier to full Duty, return a professional to Duty. If this Captain is stripped of his rank and dishonourably discharged then SHAME on the JURY.

Please Show support for our troops our police. corrections and all the NGO's operating in Afghanistan

Wow...another landlord with a problem...what part of you pay the rent, so what if you decide to put a show of support up on your verandah?... Ive run into the same issue a few times over the last number of years, but have continued to hang my ribbons and wreaths...you might like to check with IRAC re your landlords right to interfere with this.

While I can only say that he got away with murder. He won't be so lucky on the second time around. He did not follow any rules. If he was 98% dead then why did he have to put two rounds in him.I do not think he should have been charged with murder however he set a BAD example for the troops that are there trying to bring peace to this place that has not changed in a thousand years. Now, with all the leaks in the last few days I began to wonder what the heck are we doing mixed up in all off this.Let's start to think of our country and borders.Think about our tired troops, think about our depleted Navy or our grounded air force.Time to get out and back home for the boys to relax and spend some time with there wife and kids.Watch them grow up for a few years. This was a unwinable from the start and I think everyone knows that.We must let the baby bommers go and start giving some of that exprince to the younger guys.Don't worry this afgan thing will be here for another 3 or 4 decades.

If Captain Semrau did indeed put two bullets in this terrorist he was following the law of good samaritan and putting him out of his pain. As for disgraceful conduct wake up and smell the coffee. War is not nice, as for the persons who leaked these documents no matter how old He should be charged with disgraceful conduct. Reopening old wounds about our war dead. Yes our troops are tired and yes they need to spend time at home 2, 3, 4, tours of duty is too much in a short spave of time. Canadians are Proud Professional soldiers God Bless them one and all

Please see latest CBC Blurb on Capt Semrau. Do not allow this fine soldier to be released because of an archaic section of the DND Act http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2010/07/26/semrau-sentencing026.html
