The piper played as members of Sapper Brian Collier's family sadly watched the procession from aircraft to hearse. The flag draped casket of their son reverently placed in the hearse. The crowds at the fence and along the highway of heroes share their grief. Rest in Peace young Soldier your duty done.
In the news from Afghanistan the UN reports that the horrendous savagery of the taliban has returned with a vengence. Locals are intimidated and told that they and their family members will be be headed if they are even seen speaking with an ISAF soldier.
This tragic war is a travesty on the earth. Mindless savagery by mindless, mis informed taliban members. How do our troops cope with this. They carry out their duties to win the hearts and minds of locals especially the children who hopefully will be the future of Afghanistan.
I as a veteran and proud Canadian. Thank each and everyone of them for being such fine soldiers , airmen and sailors.
Please show support for our troops and their families Canada's Invisible Army.
Have a safe happy summer weekend.
