Fall Flavours literally hits the streets of Charlottetown this week as the annual barrels of sunflowers have arrived and are now lining the streets of downtown.

In addition, Tourism Charlottetown’s new signature event, The Great Big BBQ Cook Off and Block Party takes place this Saturday on Queen Street. That will be followed on Sunday by Charlottetown’s own Farm Day in the City.

The cook off and block party, presented by Bernardin, is an all day event packed with culinary fun on Queen Street. Starting at noon, you can enjoy street shopping from local artists and farmers as well as cooking demonstrations.

From Nashville, TN., guest celebrity chef/singer/songwriter/author Matt Moore will demonstrate his southern cooking style and sing a few songs.

P.E.I. chefs will compete in a friendly cook-off from 3 – 6 at 7:30 p.m. as the evening gets going with the first annual Block Party. Live entertainment with the Waterman Blues Band and Carson Downey Band, street dancing and premium beer carries the fun into the evening until 10:30 p.m.

Ticket booklets to this tasty event are $35 and include four food vouchers which can be redeemed from noon until 10:30 p.m., three cook-off tasting tickets which must be redeemed between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and admission to the block party.

While daytime admission to the street is free, tasting tickets for chefs and food from vendors may also be purchased on site. Block Party admission is $10 at the gate between 7:30 – 10:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Sept. 25, Fall Flavours hosts Farm Day in the City, presented by the Charlottetown Airport. Join farmers, producers, crafters and artists from across Prince Edward Island for this outdoor open-air market.

This downtown event is now entering its fourth year and typically enjoys over 10,000 visitors. Spend the day being entertained with local music, cooking demonstrations, face painting, balloon twisting and over 100 booths filled to the brim with fresh produce, vegetables, fruit and Island beef, pork and lamb.

Meghann Blanchard, Chris Dalzeil, Count and the Cuban Cocktail and other great musicians join us to provide live entertainment all day long.
