The annual Burns Concert, which had been scheduled for Jan. 27, is now set for Sunday, Jan. 29, due to the stormy weather.
The concert will be held at the Carrefour Theatre, 5 Acadian Dr., Charlottetown, starting at 7 p.m. with the doors opening at 6 p.m.
Admission is $12 for adults with children under the age of 12 admitted free.
Celtic tenor Tom MacDonald will be a featured performer. Also scheduled to take the stage are the Belfast Pipe and Drum Band under the direction of pipe major Matthew MacLaine, the Dalziel girls who will perform a variety of Highland dances and Blair MacPhail reading selections from the works of Burns.
Concert guests and entertainers will be welcomed by Caledonian Club president Eleanor Boswell. Chief Cecil MacPhail will be master of ceremonies. To mark the anniversary of Burns’ birth, there will be a haggis ceremony honouring the national dish of Scotland. The haggis will be carried in by Douglas MacNevin and led by piper Duncan Crawford. Burns’ Address to A Haggis will be recited by Roddie MacLean.
During intermission, samples of haggis and beverages will be available. A membership table will be present throughout the evening.
