A full day of fun at Crapaud Exhibition

Today is the 57th Crapaud Exhibition — the heartbeat of the South Shore. Activities begin with hot air balloon flights between 7 and 8 a.m. The gates open at 8 a.m.

The children’s program runs 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The judging of the 4-H entries begins at 9:30 a.m., while at 10 a.m. the lawn and tractor pull begins.

The blueberry pie baking entries must also be entered at 10 a.m., with judging of the pies taking place at noon.

M. Magic will be performing at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The omelette competition will be held 12:30-1 p.m.

The official opening of the 57th Crapaud Exhibition takes place at 1:30 p.m.

The P.E.I. potato peeling challenge takes place at 3:30 p.m.

The P.E.I. woodsmen’s competition and the MBRA barrel racing and pole bending competition as well as slimy science take place at 1 p.m.

There will be Savour the Flavour and sushi demonstration and sampling as well as commercial display booths, judging of the beef and dairy classes, the rising stars competition and outside entertainment by Rodney Savidant.

The minor hockey canteens will be open all day, and the members of the Crapaud Women’s Institute will be serving barbecue chicken meals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. So come along for a fun-filled and enjoyable day.

The 29th P.E.I. Truck and Tractor Pull Championship will be held Friday, Aug. 6, with registration at 2 p.m. and the pulling getting underway at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Aug. 7, registration is at 10 a.m., with the pulling beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Upcoming area events include the annual Westmoreland Cemetery service on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2 p.m. The service is held to honour and remember family members and friends buried at the cemetery. An offering will be taken for the cemetery upkeep. Those attending are reminded to bring a chair and that the service will be held outside.

The Appin Road Cemetery memorial service will also be held on Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. at the cemetery.

There will be a concert at the Bonshaw hall on Aug. 2 featuring the Coro-Dolce 30 member choir, directed by Carl Mathis with pianist Tanya Bernard.
