For the second straight year, Bill Chandler of William Chandler Architects, 92 Queen St., is the overall winner of the Downtown Charlottetown Inc.'s Christmas window/display decorating contest.
Judges included Doug Gallant of The Guardian, Ira Birt of City Hall and Angela Hodgson from the Chamber of Commerce.
The following is the list of winners by category:
Exterior Window Category: William Chandler Architects, first place; Heckbert Studios & Gallery, second place; Northern Watters Knitwear; other participants: Luna Eclectic Emporium; Moonsnail Soapworks; Queen Street Outlet; Vitality Hair Spa; The Guild.
Interior Design Category: Dows Mens and Ladies Wear, first place; Confederation Centre of the Arts, second place; other participants Northern Waters Knitwear; Nortons Jewellers.
Restaurant category: Merchantman Pub, first place; Mavors, second place; other participants Brit's Fish and Chips; Alibi Lounge.
Dawn Alan, executive director of Downtown Charlottetown Inc., says the displays get better every year.
"All of the participants are to be congratulated for their effort and for the beauty they add to the city this time of year," she said. "You have to make a trip down to see Bill's window in the evening, you can easily see the thought, time, effort and expense he put into his winning entry. The lights, the colours, the animated animals all make a mini-winter wonderland."
Again this year each participant donated a $25 gift certificate for Anderson House.
